Anwar: Budget 2027 to include allowance for Form Six students

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the 2027 budget will include an allowance for Form Six students. This decision came after feedback from pre-university students who noted the lack of government support for those in Form Six. Previously, allowances were provided from Year One through Form Five, as well as at the university level; however, Form Six and pre-university students were excluded.

Anwar stated that this allowance will be approved in the upcoming October budget, but he did not provide the specific amount or eligibility details. The prime minister emphasized that education remains the government's top priority, as it is crucial for the country's future. Despite the higher allocation, Anwar acknowledged that resources are still inadequate, and every ministry and department echoed this sentiment.

He stressed the importance of expanding access to quality education for students from all backgrounds, including those from poor urban and rural areas. Anwar affirmed that Malaysia's success will be measured by whether children from disadvantaged communities can access opportunities to become professionals, educators, civil servants, and specialists in fields like artificial intelligence and the semiconductor industry.
