Grieg Seafood's ownership is to be divided between two family companies, as announced by the Grieg family in a statement. The Willumsen Grieg family, consisting of five members, will take over the majority ownership in the seafood production company Grieg Seafood through a subsidiary called Grieg Aqua. Additionally, a Belgian investment firm, Ackermans & van Haaren, will join as co-owners of Grieg Aqua with a 37.5% stake.

The families have completed a generational transition, now consisting of four and five generations, according to Grieg Maturitas' CEO, Jon Haugervåg. The seafood industry is cyclical and capital-intensive, requiring active and focused ownership, and the families believe they have taken the right and natural step to prepare their companies for the future.

Grieg Seafood commented on the change, expressing positive views on the "professional and long-term ownership" represented by Ackermans & van Haaren and Willumsen Grieg. The company stated that it is not part of the transactions but supports the development. Grieg-families stated that the division is a result of constructive cooperation among shareholders, with the goal of maximizing shareholder value in the owned companies and for the family.

The final decision to divide Grieg Maturitas was based on the diverse interests and expertise of the shareholders, ensuring a more focused ownership that they believe is best for the future development of their companies. The Grieg Foundation will continue to own 25% in both family companies, established by Per Grieg senior in 2002, which has distributed over 1.2 billion kroner to charitable causes.

The family looks forward to further developing this work together. Grieg Gaarden will also remain a shared asset, serving as the main headquarters and common meeting place.
