Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Announces New IGDTUW Campus In Narela, Urges Women To Lead In AI, Technology And Innovation | Video

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced plans for a new campus for the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) in the Narela Education Hub. Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the Prabodhan Induction Programme-2026, Gupta emphasized the university's growing role in technology, innovation, and research.

She expressed her desire for the campus to accommodate more students from Delhi and the entire country, aiming to make technical education accessible to a larger number of students. The state-of-the-art lecture hall complex was also inaugurated during the event. Gupta urged the students to not only use existing technologies but to become creators and innovators of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.

The university, established in 2013, is Asia's first government women's technical university and has made significant strides in fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and mathematics and computing. Under the NETRA-NAARI-NETRITVA initiative, 75 surveillance drones were developed and demonstrated for the Delhi Police.

The government also supported a Centre of Excellence for Advanced Drone Technology and a Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security. IGDTUW students received over 1,000 placement offers, with the highest package being Rs 1 crore. Education Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the role of technology, skills, innovation, and practical learning in preparing students for a rapidly changing job market and emphasized the importance of challenging patriarchy by using technology to create solutions for India's security system.
