Coco Gauff backs her mom for posting about family and friends’ excessive US Open ticket requests

Coco Gauff was taken aback when she saw her mother post about an influx of ticket requests from family and friends for the US Open. Gauff, who won the tournament last year and is currently ranked fourth in the world, defended her mother's stance. "Honestly, it was needed, and it was directed towards a few family and friends," Gauff said.

Her mother, Candi, had posted a blunt but necessary statement on Instagram about the outrageous requests. Gauff's parents and team deal with most of the messages, but Candi felt it was time to speak up. "Please make arrangements to purchase a ticket," Candi wrote. "Never ask for more than 2 tickets. Coco is grown now and she has her own friends that she is honoring (with) tickets for the match."

Gauff's mom felt she needed to post the message to stop responding to the absurd requests, as it had been happening since Coco was 15.
