Coco Gauff backs her mom for posting about family and friends’ excessive US Open ticket requests

Coco Gauff, a top-ranked tennis player from the United States, expressed support for her mother's recent social media post about excessive ticket requests for the U.S. Open from family and friends. The post, made by Gauff's mother Candi, was a "blunt but necessary statement" warning that the daughter's tickets for the Grand Slam tournament were already allocated.

Gauff defended the post, stating that it was directed towards a few family and friends who had taken advantage of the situation. "People come out of the woodwork. You haven't spoken to someone for years. They don't say, 'Congrats' or, 'Happy birthday' or nothing. Then they're like, 'Oh, I'm in New York, can I have 8 tickets to your match in your box, please?'"

Gauff, who recently won the Cincinnati Open, acknowledged that her mother's post wasn't a message about her victory but rather a concern for the excessive requests. Candi Gauff, who is protective of her daughter, wrote in her post that she wouldn't be able to provide tickets and urged people to purchase their own. This is Gauff's fourth appearance at the U.S. Open, and she is currently ranked fourth in the world with a fourth-seed in women's singles. Her parents and teammates manage most of the ticket requests, allowing her to focus on her game.
