Charli Cannon wins Ironman WMX Moto 1, trims eight points off Lachlan Turner's lead

Crawfordsville, Indiana - Charli Cannon demonstrated her dominance in the WMX Series by winning Moto 1 of the Ironman Nationals, closing the eight-point gap between her and championship leader Lachlan Turner. By setting the pace, Cannon kept Turner from securing his third title with just one race left. As the race progressed, Cannon widened her lead to 1.5 seconds, ultimately finishing in first place ahead of Turner.

Turner, who nearly crashed on Lap 5, managed to stay second before crashing one lap later, ultimately finishing fifth. Cannon's performance was not a surprise to her, as she had practiced to develop her aggression. Turner, who made her WMX debut with Wildcat Racing, finished sixth after regaining a position after her crash. Daniella Guillen, a Spanish rider making her WMX debut, finished second and is among several international riders trying their luck in the WMX.

Despite the crash, Guillen moved into second with two laps remaining. In third, Brady Richards scored her first top-five finish of 2026 and her best result of the season. Richards finished fourth in the Budds Creek National last weekend. Only three points separated the riders battling for third in championship points. Taylah struggled with a bad start and finished ninth, while Jordan Jarvis finished sixth after being passed by Turner on the final lap. Mikayla Nielsen rounded out the top seven with a seventh-place finish.
