Carpenter turned his Niagara Falls home into a colourful religious art landmark

In 2005, Isaiah Henry Robertson, a carpenter and devout Christian from Jamaica, began converting his Niagara Falls home into a religious art landmark, believing it would be a site for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Guided by what he thought was a divine message, Robertson painted his house's exterior and interior with intricate, colorful wooden religious art, some of which was sourced with his life savings.

This transformation included a 25-foot cross, a 300-pound boulder, and walls and ceilings adorned with multi-denominational religious symbols. After Robertson's death in 2020, his home was acquired by the Kohler Foundation and gifted to the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area, preserving it as a landmark and community art space.

Visitors can now tour the property, known as Prophet Isaiah's Second Coming House, to see the artist's vision and hear about the challenges of preserving outdoor folk art.
