Big-spending Tottenham hand manager the tools to dream

Roberto De Zerbi, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, challenged the club's owners for a team of his dreams during the summer transfer window. The club spent over £300 million ($407 million) upgrading their forward line with acquisitions such as Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. Despite a disappointing opening-day 3-0 loss at Brentford, De Zerbi expressed satisfaction with the spending and stated that further signings could be made.

The Brazilian winger Savio, purchased for £75 million, scored his first goal in the 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic. He is expected to lead the attack alongside Egyptian Marmoush, who is on loan with a £50 million permanent deal in mind. De Zerbi praised both players, calling them "bombas" and expressing hope for their contributions.

Tottenham is also rumored to be interested in Liverpool's Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, though De Zerbi disagrees with the transfer window remaining open after the season has started. The manager remains optimistic about the team's potential, acknowledging that much work needs to be done to transform the squad into a competitive unit.
