Bezzecchi edges Marquez brothers in blazing Spanish MotoGP practice

In a thrilling second practice session for the Spanish MotoGP at Alacaniz in Aragon, Marco Bezzecchi narrowly edged out the Marquez brothers, Alex and Marc, by just 0.038 seconds. Reigning champion Marc Marquez claimed the fastest time of the day with a lap of 1 minute 45.493 seconds, initially setting a new personal best for the circuit.

Bezzecchi, starting the season with three consecutive wins, managed to break his own lap record in a frenzied finish with a time of 1:45.455. Alex Marquez quickly followed in second place, just 10 thousandths of a second behind his brother. Bezzecchi, who has been dealing with pain in his left shoulder, knee, and body following crashes in the recent German race, expressed concern about the physical toll of the weekend.

He also suspected that Marc Marquez, who has historically performed well at Motorland with seven victories on the circuit, might have hidden some additional speed for the upcoming weekend. Fabio Di Giannantonio of Ducati-VR46 rounded out the top four, with four Spanish riders - Fermin Aldeguer, Raul Fernandez, Martin, and Pedro Acosta - completing the top ten.

The top ten riders skip the opening qualifying session on Saturday and head straight to Q2, which determines the first four rows on the grid.
