Bayern steamroll Stuttgart in Bundesliga opener

MUNICH: Bayern Munich dominated Stuttgart 5-1 in their Bundesliga opener on Friday, with five goalscorers contributing to the comprehensive win. Michael Olise and Luis Diaz were among the scorers as Bayern maintained their dominance throughout the match, much like their previous encounter in the German Cup final. Dayot Upamecano opened the scoring for Bayern from a corner, and despite a late equalizer from Stuttgart's Josha Vagnoman, Bayern continued to control the game.

Olise scored twice and played a crucial role in the two goals scored in quick succession, earning praise from Bayern defender Konrad Laimer for his exceptional skills. The victory extended Bayern's unbeaten run in league openers to 15 seasons. Harry Kane, who had previously scored more goals against Stuttgart than any other German opponent, did not make an impact and was substituted late in the second-half.

The win could see Bayern top the table after just one matchday, extending their winning streak to 67 matchdays since September 2024. Germany coach Jurgen Klopp had previously indicated that Bayern midfielder Jamal Musiala could replace Musiala after returning from a neurological issue he suffered during pre-season.
