Ayra Starr set to make history as first African artist to headline NFL halftime show

The National Football League (NFL) has announced Ayra Starr, the acclaimed Afrobeats artist, as the first ever Afrobeats star to headline their International Game Halftime Show. The event will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on October 11th, during a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The halftime show will begin at 2:30 p.m. BST (9:30 a.m. ET).

Starr, who recently released her third studio album, Starrgirl, which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard's World Albums Chart, expressed her excitement about the performance. She noted that London is one of her favorite cities and that performing at the NFL halftime show in the city is a dream come true. She eagerly anticipates performing in front of the fans in London.

Tim Tubito, senior director of global game presentation, music and entertainment at the NFL, explained that London is a highly influential music city and African music has been at the center of global conversations for years. He praised Starr for being a generational talent with a strong connection to the fans in the region. Tubito is confident that her performance will continue the momentum of the successful NFL London halftime shows.

Starr will join other international halftime performers such as the Jonas Brothers, Ricky Martin, Pedro Sampaio, and several others who will headline NFL games in various cities including Melbourne, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Madrid, Spain; Mexico City, Mexico; Munich, Germany; and Paris, France.
