Asutifi South Assembly raises GH¢1.4m IGF in first half of 2026

The Asutifi South District Assembly in Ghana's Ahafo Region has achieved a significant milestone in its financial performance, collecting over half of its annual Internal Generated Funds (IGF) target within the first half of 2026. The Assembly had set a goal of generating GH¢2.5 million for the year, and by June, it had already raised GH¢1,447,317.87, accounting for approximately 58% of its target. This impressive haul puts the Assembly on track to exceed its revenue goals by the end of the fiscal year.

District Chief Executive (DCE) Benjamin Assabil Donkor revealed these figures during an interview at Hwidiem following the Assembly's general meeting. He attributed the improved performance to the introduction of new revenue collection measures and a heightened public education campaign aimed at increasing awareness about the importance of taxes and other payments in community development.

Donkor highlighted that the Assembly is now encouraging residents to fulfill their tax obligations promptly, as adequate funding is crucial for providing essential infrastructure and services.

To ensure continued revenue growth, the DCE announced the formation of a task force to regularly monitor and follow up on unpaid revenues. Donkor expressed confidence in the Assembly's ability to generate the necessary funds to undertake development projects and enhance services across the district. Meanwhile, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Alhassan Mohammed, praised the efforts of Assembly members in boosting revenue mobilisation and urged them to maintain their commitment to implementing measures that would further increase the Assembly's internally generated funds.

Mohammed assured the public that, with the implemented strategies and residents' cooperation, the Assembly would achieve its ambitious GH¢2.5 million IGF target for 2026.
