Applications Currently Open for Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls 2026–27

The British Council, in collaboration with the Scottish Government, is presently accepting applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarship Scheme for Young Women and Girls 2026-27. This initiative aims to broaden access to higher education for women in Pakistan, a goal that has been realized through the support of over 25,000 students since the program's inception in 2013.

James Hampson, Country Director at the British Council Pakistan, expressed pride in the partnership with the Scottish Government, stating that the scholarship scheme has been instrumental in making quality education more accessible and aspirations more attainable for young women. The scholarships are open to female students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who are pursuing bachelor's and master's degrees at HEC-recognized universities in Pakistan.

The program prioritizes fields of study vital to Pakistan's future, such as Education, Agriculture and Food Security, Sustainable Energy, Health Sciences, Climate Change, and STEM Engineering. STEM disciplines are eligible for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The scholarship covers tuition fees for eligible courses, university hostel costs where applicable, travel expenses between the student's home and the university twice a year for those residing in on-campus hostels, and funds for research work requiring access to quality labs, equipment, and tools (applicable to master's students only).

Postgraduate applicants can apply for support towards two-year Master's/MPhil programs, while undergraduate applicants can seek assistance for four-year bachelor's degrees in eligible subject areas. The scholarship is open to Pakistani nationals currently residing in Pakistan, who have a confirmed admission offer to an HEC-recognized university.

Minorities and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. The application deadline is September 15, 2026.
