Apple Pledges Donation for Nepal and Tibet Flood Relief

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced today that the company will donate towards relief and reconstruction efforts in Nepal and Tibet, where flash floods and mudslides claimed hundreds of lives. On Wednesday, a portion of a Himalayan glacier disintegrated, temporarily blocking a river before a torrent of water and debris swept through communities downstream.

Numerous people are reported dead or missing, and roads, bridges, and residences near the Nepal-Tibet border have been severely damaged. The company expressed its sympathies to those affected by the devastating flash floods and mudslides in Nepal and Tibet. As stated by Cook on August 28, 2026, "Our thoughts are with all those affected by the tragic flash floods and mudslides in Nepal and Tibet.

Apple is making a donation to support relief and rebuilding efforts on the ground." This marks Apple's fifth disaster relief pledge within the span of two months, following support for Indonesia's earthquake recovery earlier this month and previous interventions in Venezuela, Southern Europe, and Japan. Cook made this pledge during his final days as CEO, with John Ternus set to assume the role on September 1, when Cook assumes the newly created executive chairman position, where he is expected to continue representing Apple on policy matters.
