Ambulance driver, wife jump into Godavari River in A.P.; search on

Financial issues are suspected to be the reason behind the couple resorting to extreme step

A couple, identified as D. Venkata Sai, 31, and his wife Sireesh, 27, reportedly jumped into the Godavari River from the Chinchinada bridge in West Godavari district on Thursday night. Their three-year-old son remained on the bridge. Financial struggles are believed to have driven the couple to take such a drastic measure. Sai, a resident of Velpuru village in Tanuku mandal, is employed as an ambulance driver at a private hospital.

On Friday night, the distraught pair and their son were seen at the Chinchinada bridge, before Sai and Sireesh leapt into the river. The search for the missing couple intensified on Friday but no trace of them has been found. Chinchinada Sub-Inspector M. Raj Kumar informed that the search operation will continue on Saturday, with support from the SDRF personnel.

The police have registered a missing person case and are currently conducting an investigation. The West Godavari police have provided a helpline number, 9490401725, for individuals struggling with stress or suicidal thoughts.
