Abbas & Ali make use of tricky conditions for England batters

Dubai: Pakistan's cricket team bounced back from their first Test loss by delivering a strong bowling performance during the opening day of the second Test against England at Lord's. After being outplayed at Headingley in the previous match, Pakistan's attack demonstrated better control and threat in London. The damp and challenging conditions allowed Pakistan's bowlers to exploit the movement on the pitch, leaving England struggling, with the score at 248-9 when bad light interrupted play.

Mohammad Abbas played a pivotal role in Pakistan's success, taking four crucial wickets, including Joe Root for just four runs. Mohammad Ali provided further support with three wickets, ensuring England could not settle and applying pressure throughout the day. England's top order, including Joe Root, Emilio Gay, Ben Duckett, and Harry Brook, faced early setbacks from Pakistan's seamers, who made early inroads.

However, Jordan Cox and Jamie Smith steadied England with their composed batting, with Cox contributing 55 runs and Smith adding 61. Their partnership prevented Pakistan from advancing further and provided England with a platform to challenge the bowlers further. Despite the efforts of the top order, Pakistan continued to trouble England, dismissing Smith and Ollie Robinson, while Abbas added another late wicket.

With only 56 overs available due to rain, England's score of 248-9 leaves the match evenly poised, putting the responsibility on Pakistan to make the most of their strong start.
