2027: Atiku dismisses age concerns, says ‘do I look 80?’

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress, has rejected questions about his age ahead of the 2027 election. During an interview with BBC Hausa, Atiku challenged the notion that his age would hinder his ability to provide effective leadership. He recalled President Bola Tinubu's age, which was reportedly 80 at the time, and asked the interviewer, "Do I look to you like someone who has reached 80 years of age?"

Atiku also dismissed claims that he was an obstructionist in the opposition coalition, stating that he had initiated the coalition and that most of the politicians remained committed to it. He criticized the government's handling of the petrol subsidy removal, alleging that the funds were stolen and not used for intended development.

Atiku promised to restore the subsidy if elected, but demanded the return of the stolen money. He also questioned the exclusion of the incumbent government from a peace accord involving opposition politicians.
