Why many prefer dogs for security — Analyst explains

The Africa Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (ACSIS) founder, Dr Paul Boateng, has emphasized the increasing significance of dogs in security operations. In an interview on International Dog Day, Dr Boateng pointed out that many people prefer dogs over human security personnel due to their uncorruptible nature. Dogs possess loyalty, discipline, and threat detection abilities that make them valuable assets in safeguarding lives and property.

Dr Boateng explained that specially trained dogs are employed in various parts of the world to detect threats, track suspects, identify hazardous substances, and protect individuals and property. He stressed that the unwavering loyalty of dogs makes them especially useful in security operations, as they are dedicated to protecting their owners and cannot be bribed or compromised.

The expert also addressed the cultural practice of dog meat consumption, acknowledging that while some find it distasteful, others consider it a part of their traditions. Dr Boateng stressed the importance of respecting cultural differences when discussing such practices. As International Dog Day is celebrated, the role of dogs in security and their societal contributions have come to the forefront, highlighting the need for appreciation of their loyalty and value to human society.
