Why JP Nadda met anti-reservation protesters, and what BJP wants

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda held "cordial discussions" with a delegation from the Reservation Hatao Andolan (RHA) on August 27, 2026. The RHA opposes caste-based reservations and advocates for income-based quotas. The delegation was led by NEET aspirant Harsh Dubey, who has been labeled a "government plant" by other RHA leaders.

Nadda stated that the discussions were "pre-determined" and that he would meet with the anti-reservation activists again soon. Dubey called the meeting a "positive initiative for the welfare of all society," but other RHA leaders dismissed Dubey as a government plant aimed at diverting from the real demands. The RHA's expanded charter now includes a review of the SC/ST Act, phasing out caste-based reservations, and a National Commission for the General Category.
