Where Auburn ranks in USA TODAY re-rank before Week 0's action

Auburn football will not host its first game until September 4, but even before the season kicks off, USA TODAY has assessed the Tigers in their weekly College Football Re-Rank. Auburn's ranking stands at No. 63, placing them in the upper half of the list. The SEC is represented by 11 teams, along with seven other opponents, all ahead of Auburn in this week's outlook.

Auburn's first game of the season is set for Week 1 against the Baylor Bears at the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The Bears are ranked No. 53 in the current re-rank, which is ten spots higher than Auburn.

Following Auburn's home games against Southern Miss, Florida, and Vanderbilt, they will face Tennessee for their first true road game. Southern Miss ranks No. 125, the only team in this stretch lower than Auburn. The Tigers' Week 3 game against Florida, ranked No. 37, signals the start of a challenging period, as they will face six straight opponents ranked within the top 40 of the re-rank list.

Those opponents include the Gators (No. 37), Vanderbilt (No. 40), Tennessee (No. 19), Georgia (No. 6), LSU (No. 18), and Ole Miss (No. 11). Auburn's next game against a lower-ranked team won't occur until Week 10, when they take on Arkansas, who are ranked No. 97—the lowest-ranked SEC team in the re-rank.

Auburn will close out the regular season by hosting FCS Samford on November 21, before concluding with a rematch of the Iron Bowl against Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium on November 26. The Crimson Tide currently lead the re-rank at No. 9.
