Was there any such offer, Anwar asks on Azmin rejoining PKR

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim expressed uncertainty regarding reports that his erstwhile deputy, Azmin Ali, has been approached to return to the party. Interrogated by journalists following his attendance at the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo 2026 at KLCC, Anwar stated that he had not received any notification regarding the matter. He posed two questions: "Did anyone approach me?" and "Was there any such offer?" Anwar did not provide any further clarification.

The prime minister faced inquiries about Azmin, who had previously stated that he would not return to PKR, despite Anwar's appeal for former leaders and activists to rejoin the party during the recent congress. Former PKR vice-presidents Tian Chua and Dr Xavier Jayakumar confirmed their decision to return to the party, sparking speculation that additional former party leaders might follow their lead.

Despite the recent difficulties faced by Bersatu, Azmin, who holds the position of secretary-general at Bersatu, maintained that it remained the most suitable platform for his political aspirations. Azmin was removed from PKR in February 2020 due to his participation in the Sheraton Move, a move that resulted in Bersatu leaving Pakatan Harapan and eventually contributed to the downfall of the PH government.
