Veligonda Project: Markapuram Collector assures justice to all oustees

Markapuram District Collector M. Vijaya Sunitha has expressed assurance to displaced residents that the district administration is working towards ensuring justice for each eligible individual. Accompanied by Joint Collector P. Srinivasulu, DRO Venkata Sivarami Reddy and other district-level officials, she visited two villages - Gottipadiya and Akkachervu Thanda - that are at risk of submergence due to the Veligonda Project.

During her inspection, she inquired about the challenges faced by the displaced residents and examined the compensation status. Sunitha distributed land title deeds (pattas) to the villagers and assured them of government support for their rehabilitation. She highlighted that all residents of the rehabilitation villages would be compensated before the scheduled release of water from the project.

Sunitha informed that basic amenities in the rehabilitation colonies are completed and pattas are being distributed. Ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit and public meeting at Gantavanipalli in Dornala mandal of Markapuram district, SP V. Harshavardhan Raju inspected the security arrangements and vehicle routes. He directed officials from various departments to coordinate and take proactive measures to ensure no security lapses occur, including robust security at the helipad, public meeting venue, and the feeder canal.
