Ukrainian drone plant target of failed arson plot in Slovakia

Three men detained on August 25 in Slovakia were allegedly planning to set fire to the facility of Ukrainian drone manufacturer Skyeton, according to Reuters. The group claiming responsibility for the failed attack was "Global Citizens Against War 1984," a relatively unknown entity. Skyeton manufactures drones for civilian and military applications in Ukraine and other nations.

The Slovakia-based company's plant was the target of the attack. "The Russians regularly attempt to attack both our production facilities in Ukraine and our reputation," Skyeton stated in a Reuters press release. "The recent attempted attack on our facility in Slovakia is further proof that Ukrainian defense manufacturers have become a real thorn in their side."

German law enforcement also informed Reuters that a 26-year-old Latvian man was detained in Hamburg on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Extradition proceedings are now underway. On August 25, Slovak police prevented the arson attack on a drone systems manufacturing plant in the eastern region of the country. Two suspects were apprehended in Slovakia, and another in Germany under a European arrest warrant.

During the operation, police recovered a significant quantity of an incendiary mixture. Preliminary analysis suggested the substance was a combination of gasoline and polystyrene, which is often used to create napalm. Investigators discovered tools, smartphones, a camera, and a hand-drawn blueprint of the plant.
