Troops disrupt ransom exchange, rescue kidnap victim in Kebbi

Troops belonging to Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued a kidnapped woman and thwarted a ransom exchange in Kebbi State, according to a statement released by the operation's acting spokesperson, Col. Olaniyi Osoba. The woman had been abducted from her farm in the previous month. The troops received credible intelligence about the planned ransom exchange, which prompted them to mobilize and intercept the transaction.

As the kidnappers spotted the troops' advance, they engaged them, ultimately forcing the criminals to retreat and abandon the hostage. Upon their arrival, the troops rescued the unharmed victim and promptly returned her to safety. She was reunited with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. Following the successful rescue, the troops conducted a thorough search along the criminals' withdrawal route to ensure the area was secure before returning to their base.

In a separate operation, the troops conducted clearance and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area without any reported incidents. Osoba emphasized that Operation FANSAN YAMMA will continue its operations against terrorists and other criminal groups in Kebbi State, urging residents to provide timely information to help prevent criminal activities and protect their communities.
