Toxic Box Office Collection Day 1 Update: Yash film earns over Rs 140 crore worldwide

Yash's action thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups has achieved a remarkable start at the box office, surpassing the Rs 100 crore mark on its opening day across India. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film grossed Rs 101.10 crore in India and Rs 140.75 crore globally on its first day, according to trade website Sacnilk. Released on August 26, Toxic follows in Yash's footsteps as the second film to open with Rs 100 crore or more, following KGF Chapter 2.

It has also claimed the second-highest Indian opening of all time, behind Dhurandhar 2. The film earned Rs 120.75 crore in India and Rs 20 crore overseas, making its worldwide gross Rs 140.75 crore. Toxic performed exceptionally well in southern markets, with Karnataka leading at Rs 30.50 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at Rs 18.50 crore, Tamil Nadu at Rs 6.75 crore, and Kerala at Rs 2.25 crore.

Most notably, the rest of India contributed Rs 62.75 crore, accounting for more than half of the film's opening-day India gross, indicating a strong audience beyond Yash's core South Indian market. Toxic's India nett collection on Day 1 was Rs 101.10 crore, with a total India gross of Rs 120.75 crore and an overseas gross of Rs 20 crore, bringing its worldwide gross to Rs 140.75 crore.

On the India nett opening-day chart, Toxic outperformed films such as Kalki (Rs 95 crore), Salaar (Rs 91 crore), Adipurush (Rs 87 crore), Devara (Rs 83 crore), and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan (Rs 75 crore). While it still trails behind some of the biggest Indian openers like Dhurandhar 2 (Rs 103 crore), Yash's KGF Chapter 2 (Rs 116 crore), Baahubali 2 (Rs 121 crore), RRR (Rs 133 crore), and Pushpa 2 (Rs 164.25 crore), the film had already generated strong pre-release momentum, with advance bookings crossing Rs 58.27 crore and more than 18.48 lakh tickets sold across 25,654 shows.

Critics have offered mixed reviews, with The Free Press Journal giving the film 2 stars, citing issues with the weak screenplay, direction, lack of emotional connection, and the movie's length.
