Tension in Mumbai’s Parel after clashes between 2 groups; police deploy force

Mumbai police booked three individuals following a clash that erupted in the Parel district on Wednesday night, in the wake of an Eid procession. Additional police force was deployed in a precautionary measure, as per a police officer's statement. The reason behind the tensions remains unclear, with various claims circulating on social media. The officer, however, cautioned against jumping to conclusions, stating that the investigation is still ongoing.

Earlier, the police had reassured the public that there was no need to panic, pointing out that both groups involved in the altercation were shouting slogans and engaging in a verbal dispute. Appropriate action was taken, and the situation was subsequently brought under control. Manoj Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Law and Order, appealed to the public not to believe in rumors.

He emphasized that senior officers are currently present at the site, and the situation is now completely calm. According to reports, there were instances of stone pelting and the use of mild force by the police, although The Indian Express was unable to independently verify these claims.
