17 Malaysians cut off near Nepal-China border as floods wipe out road access

Seventeen Malaysians on a tour group remain uncontactable after severe floods hit Nepal's Rasuwa district, with their last known location near the border with China. Roshan Panday, a representative of the Nepal-based travel agency, confirmed that all 17 Malaysians were traveling together when contact was lost. The group's last contact was at 8:18am local time, or 10:18am Malaysia time, as they were traveling towards the border near Timure.

However, no roads are accessible in the affected area due to the floods, making it difficult for rescue efforts to reach the group. Helicopters and drones have been deployed to locate the missing travelers, but rebuilding roads could take up to a year. Meanwhile, Malaysians at the Annapurna Base Camp have been reported safe, with approximately 65 to 70 of them staying there.

The situation remains closely monitored as Malaysian authorities continue efforts to locate the missing tourists.
