Sindh Orders Completion of Lal Shahbaz Shrine Work

Sindh's Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah directed officials to finalize development works around the shrine of Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz by January's next urs. Shah emphasized the Rs1.28 billion project should be completed by December 31, 2026 to beautify the area and prepare it for pilgrims. A Zoom meeting chaired by the chief secretary included Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Qadri and other officials from Sehwan.

The Rs1,280 million scheme encompasses various projects, some of which were completed in 2025-26, while the remaining work will be carried out in the current fiscal year. The ongoing work includes constructing a dual carriageway from College Chowk to the shrine of Bodlo Bahar, strengthening the old Alam Pak with ironwork, laying new marble flooring at the shrine for summer visitor comfort, and improving the musafir khana and chillah gah at Lal Bagh.

The road from Bodlo Bahar shrine to the bazaar will also be enhanced to maintain area symmetry. The deputy commissioner briefed Shah on the Sehwan projects, which involve rehabilitating and improving roads leading to Sehwan and the shrine, along with drainage, water supply, streetlights, and pedestrian facilities. The chief secretary stressed the importance of completing the schemes before the urs begins, prioritizing devotees' safety and convenience.

He also stressed coordinated work on road construction, drainage, water supply, and other facilities to avoid damage to newly built roads. The chief secretary ordered the removal of encroachments from devotees' routes and directed regular technical inspections, proper material testing, transparency in fund use, and adequate safety measures at all project sites.
