#SHOWBIZ: Slash, Flea and rock legends pay heartfelt tribute to the late Tim Curry

Los Angeles has witnessed a wave of tributes from rock legends following the passing of actor Tim Curry at the age of 80 on August 26. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Curry had breathed his last breath at his home in the city.

The news of Curry's demise prompted an outpouring of condolences from several renowned figures in the rock world. Slash of Guns N' Roses, Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, Disturbed frontman David Draiman, and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea were among the notable rock stars who paid homage to the late actor.

Mike Portnoy, known for his extensive knowledge of pop culture, shared his deep affection for Curry. He recalled his youth, when Curry's role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show captivated him. Portnoy would attend the film's screenings every weekend, even dressing up as Riff Raff at different venues across New York and California. Portnoy's passion for the film was evident in his dedication to remember every line, even occasionally attending events dressed as the character.

Flea, the talented bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, also expressed his admiration for Curry. He reminisced about his childhood, recounting how he dressed in his mother's makeup and lamé dress to attend a screening of Rocky Horror at the Tiffany theatre on Sunset. Flea's excitement to work with Curry later on The Wild Thornberrys series added a personal touch to his tribute, as he fondly remembered the kind, smart, and funny nature of the actor.

Curry's passing coincided with that of country music legend Dolly Parton, who was also 80 years old at the time.
