Scottie Scheffler praises Tiger Woods’ influence on PGA Tour purse sizes
The winner of this week's Tour Championship takes home $10 million, and a spot in the top eight would push Scheffler to No. 1 on the Tour's all-time earnings list.
On Tuesday, Tiger Woods delivered a pre-recorded video message during the Payne Stewart Award ceremony in Atlanta, where his longtime friend Notah Begay III received the 2026 Payne Stewart Award. The 50-year-old golfer has largely avoided public attention since his March DUI arrest in Florida. The video quickly drew attention, with some fans expressing mixed reactions to Woods' changed appearance.
Woods, due in court on September 8 over the charges linked to the crash, appeared in the video to reflect on his long friendship with Begay and praise his work away from golf, particularly his charitable efforts for Native American communities.
