The Sussexes left the UK and retired from their royal roles in early 2020 before settling in California the following year. King Charles was informed of their relocation earlier this month, although it was not discussed prior to their visit in July.

The couple had not been in the UK together since attending the Queen's funeral in 2022. Prince Harry and the Princess of Wales have been notified of their plans.
