Rotary Club of Accra-Airport celebrates 25 years with documentary launch

The Rotary Club of Accra-Airport celebrated its 25th anniversary with a commemorative Coffee Table Book launch and the premiere of a documentary showcasing the Club's journey, service, and impact over the past quarter-century. The event took place at the African Regent Hotel in Accra, Ghana, and brought together Rotary leaders, Rotarians, Rotaractors, partners, families of departed members, and distinguished guests.

The Club was chartered on April 18, 2000, with 22 members through the Rotary Club of Accra-North. Today, it has grown to encompass 74 members. Rotarian David Kwatia Nyante, the Club's President, welcomed attendees by emphasizing the significance of the occasion in preserving the Club's institutional memory and honoring the individuals and partnerships that have shaped its journey.

He acknowledged the late Past District Governor, Adotei Brown, whose vision and efforts were crucial to the Club's chartering, and recognized the contributions of past and present members, partners, and families. The Club has expanded its influence within the Rotary family by establishing other Rotary and Rotaract clubs, supporting The Rotary Foundation and PolioPlus, and achieving notable milestones, such as being a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club and achieving 100% Every Rotarian, Every Year participation.

The commemorative book and documentary were conceived during the 2024-2025 Rotary year as part of the Club's 25th anniversary celebrations. The project's theme is "Our Rotary Story — Celebrating the Past, Capturing the Present and Inspiring the Future." The District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Jack Andrews Dotse (PhD), praised the Club's legacy and reflected on the importance of celebrating the milestone, as well as reflecting on the Club's impact, the people who contributed to it, and the responsibility of the present generation to carry the legacy forward.

The Governor emphasized that Rotary's true legacy is measured by service and impact, highlighting the Club's achievements in extending Rotary by establishing other clubs and its contributions to The Rotary Foundation and PolioPlus. The District Governor also welcomed the establishment of the Club's own Foundation, describing it as an avenue for converting the goodwill, partnerships, and service culture into sustainable impact.

He urged current members to see themselves as custodians of the Club's legacy and to consider what more can be achieved as they embark on the next 25 years.
