Raksha Bandhan -- They Gave A Part Of Themselves To Save Their Siblings

On Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the bond between sisters and brothers, some women have chosen to become protectors by donating a part of themselves to save their brothers' lives. Among them are Vanya Tiwari, a 24-year-old intern in medicine from Jabalpur, who donated one of her kidneys to her brother Varad in 2023, as Varad battled chronic kidney failure and required dialysis. Vanya's father expressed pride in his daughter's decision and emphasized the safety of kidney donation.

Arunesh Singh Tiwari, a 49-year-old revenue department employee from Rewa, also received a kidney transplant last month. His sister Shalini Pandey, a government school teacher in Sidhi, donated the organ after Arunesh's kidneys failed and medications proved ineffective. Arunesh attributed his survival to his sister's altruism.

Shivani Manju, a 37-year-old housewife from Bhopal, required a kidney transplant three years ago due to failing kidneys. Her cousin brother Rajesh Kumar Gupta stepped forward to donate his kidney, saving Shivani's life. Shivani expressed gratitude towards her brother for his selfless act.

Finally, Rita Saini, a 40-year-old from Bhopal, donated a kidney to her younger brother Pancham Singh in November last year, as his kidney had failed due to hypertension. Rita felt fortunate and lucky that her brother's life was saved through this selfless gift, which she attributed to the spirit of Raksha Bandhan.
