Punjab to Install Fire Hydrants Outside All Hospitals

The Punjab Housing Department has mandated the installation of fire hydrants around all major government hospitals across Punjab, including Lahore. This directive follows a devastating fire incident in Islamabad that resulted in the loss of innocent lives. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered a comprehensive review of fire safety measures in prominent public hospitals.

The first step involves compiling a list of 57 government hospitals that require this safety enhancement. Fire hydrants will be strategically placed near Regional Hospitals (RHCs), Tehsil Hospitals (THQ), District Headquarter Hospitals (DHQ), and other medical facilities, as determined by the Housing Department. The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has been assigned the task of pinpointing optimal locations for these installations.

The current status and operational efficiency of existing fire hydrants in proximity to these hospitals will also be assessed immediately. Rescue 1122 and other related departments are being given full backing in this initiative. Both the Housing Department and associated institutions will collaborate to facilitate the installation process.

Furthermore, the infrastructure surrounding hospitals will be upgraded to bolster firefighting capabilities.
