Prime Minister Modi to begin 4-day visit to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan on Aug 29

On August 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commence a four-day visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. The visit begins with a state visit to Tashkent, marking Prime Minister Modi's fourth trip to Uzbekistan. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the trip, stating that Prime Minister Modi will meet with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The agenda includes discussions on trade, investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people ties. Both leaders will also explore ways to advance their shared developmental goals, such as Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.

During the visit, Modi is slated to visit the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. After Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, for the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit from August 31 to September 1. The summit marks the 25th anniversary of the SCO, of which India has been a member since 2017.

At the summit, Modi will address the forum, outlining India's priorities of security, connectivity, and opportunity. He will also meet with SCO leaders in bilateral discussions and attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, a celebration of Central Asia's rich cultural heritage.
