Polis siasat elemen cuai, sabotaj insiden roller-coaster Sunway Lagoon

Selangor Police Chief Shazeli Kahar disclosed that a thorough investigation is underway, in collaboration with technical agencies, including the bomb squad and the Selangor Occupational Health and Safety Department, following a roller-coaster incident at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park last Saturday that left ten visitors injured. According to him, two of the injured victims are still being treated in the hospital, although their conditions are not serious, while the others have been permitted to return home after receiving outpatient care.

The roller-coaster has been closed temporarily to allow for the investigation, encompassing a structural and foundation inspection, he said during a media briefing at IPK Selangor. He added that statements from relevant parties, including park officials, game controllers, and victims, have been collected to aid the investigation.

The organized crime syndicate liaison unit reported the arrest of 40 individuals, including 35 men aged between 20 and 40, who were customer service operators, during raids on five separate call center syndicates between August 18 and 20. Police also seized IT equipment worth RM165,000, ten fraud scheme scripts, RM6,000 in cash, a foreign Perodua Alza car, and an expired international police identification card during the raid in Kajang. All suspects are being held under Section 420 and 120B of the Penal Code.
