Police restore calm after clash leaves three dead in Lagos community

The Lagos State Police Command has restored order in the Ikola area following a violent clash that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to two others. According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebesi, tactical and specialized units were deployed to maintain peace and prevent further unrest.

The altercation reportedly began when suspected area boys allegedly stopped a tricycle rider, demanding ₦200. When the rider refused, the group seized his vehicle. The rider later returned with others, leading to a violent confrontation between the two groups. The deceased and injured were taken to the Military Hospital for medical treatment.

Police Commissioner CP Tijani Fatai and Brig. Gen. Afolabi Owolabi of the Nigerian Army visited the site to oversee the security response. Units such as the Rapid Response Squad, Task Force, and Police Mobile Force were deployed to the area to maintain order. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.

They advised residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and provide credible details to assist the ongoing investigation.
