Police invite VeryDarkMan, demand evidence of checkpoint kidnapping claims

The Nigeria Police Force has called upon social media activist Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, to provide evidence supporting his claim that some police officers at checkpoints collaborate with kidnappers and bandits. The Police Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, announced this in a statement on Thursday. Otse made his allegations at the recent Nigerian Bar Association’s conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The police described the allegation as serious, unsubstantiated, and damaging to the institution. They firmly rejected the claims, stating that any such evidence must meet a certain standard. The police urged the activist to present the evidence in question and requested members of the public to approach the proper authorities with credible evidence of police misconduct, rather than relying solely on public allegations.
