Parliament to vet Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Mahama Ayariga today

Today, Thursday, August 27, 2026, the Appointments Committee of Parliament will begin the vetting process for two of President John Dramani Mahama's recent ministerial nominees. Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Klottey-Korle MP, and Mahama Ayariga, the Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, will undergo scrutiny. These nominations are among several ministerial appointments submitted by the President for parliamentary review.

The vetting schedule was introduced to Parliament on Monday, August 24, by Mahama Ayariga, now the Chair of the Business Committee. The parliamentary body's request for a waiver of the Standing Orders requirement on the publication of presidential nominations enabled the Appointments Committee to proceed without delay from the usual publication necessity.

Following the vetting process, the Appointments Committee is expected to submit its reports to the full House for further consideration and approval, adhering to established parliamentary procedures.
