'No thrill' if Melaka assembly dissolution date revealed now - Ab Rauf

ALOR GAJAH: The Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, has revealed that he is not disclosing the date for the assembly dissolution to maintain the element of surprise ahead of the state election. In an interview, Ab Rauf emphasized that announcing the date early would take away the excitement and anticipation surrounding the event.

He stated, "If I tell you now, there'll be no thrill. What's the point?" The Melaka Chief Minister went on to clarify that the legislative assembly would automatically dissolve on December 30 if not dissolved earlier. He also expressed confidence that Melaka Umno would not compromise on its 21 state seats, asserting that this position would remain unchanged in negotiations.

Ab Rauf hinted that the election might be held before November to prevent any disruption to candidates preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. The event, attended by representatives from various government agencies and departments, was described by Ab Rauf as possibly the final meeting before the election process begins.
