Nepal Floods: 80 Tourists From Maharashtra Stranded, 4-5 In Contact, Says Minister Girish Mahajan; State Sets Up Helpdesk

Mumbai: An estimated 80 tourists from Maharashtra are currently stranded in Nepal following severe flash floods, according to Maharashtra Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan. As of now, the state government has only managed to establish contact with four to five of the affected tourists, Mahajan reported. Out of the 80 stranded individuals, 57 were traveling together via Richa Tours and Travels, the minister added.

The Maharashtra government is actively coordinating with the Union government to facilitate further rescue and evacuation operations, as the situation in Nepal is deemed critical. Efforts are being made to reach out to the remaining tourists and evaluate their condition and immediate requirements.

In response to the crisis, the Maharashtra government has set up a 24-hour State Control Room at Mantralaya to provide assistance to citizens stranded in Nepal or those in need of emergency support.
