Nepal flash floods: U.P. focuses on river monitoring, activates rescue teams

In the aftermath of the devastating flash floods in Nepal, the Uttar Pradesh government has prioritized continuous river monitoring and ensuring the safety of its citizens. On Thursday, August 27, 2026, the administration announced that they would keep vulnerable villages informed and ready rescue teams for any potential flood situation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the government to take charge of the situation, as stated in an official statement. The Relief Commissioner's Office Control Room has been continuously monitoring the flood conditions in the districts neighboring Nepal, while also activating relief and rescue teams.

The state has deployed one platoon of the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) with 32 personnel, and an additional 22 personnel from the 26th Battalion of the President's Body Guard (PAC) have been sent to Nepal. Four rubber boats are already available at the site, and an aluminium boat is being sent along with another SDRF platoon. Preparations are being made to provide extra forces and resources as needed.

The government's primary focus is on evacuating stranded citizens and providing immediate assistance to those in need. Family members of Uttar Pradesh citizens trapped in Nepal can seek information or assistance by contacting 1070.
