Nepal flash floods: 21 Indians from Tamil Nadu rescued, says Ministry of External Affairs

The humanitarian aid agency IsraAID has announced plans to deploy an emergency response team to Nepal following devastating floods and landslides in the region. According to the agency's statement, the team will arrive in Nepal on Thursday, with their initial mission focusing on urgent relief distributions and providing mental health support and protection for affected communities.

IsraAID CEO Yotam Polizer expressed concern over the situation, stating that entire communities have been destroyed by flash flooding and landslides. NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief, also joining Israeli-based delegations to the region, announced that they too are dispatching an emergency team to Nepal. NATAN volunteers, medical and mental health professionals, will provide medical and psychosocial care to survivors and help strengthen local healthcare systems.

Meanwhile, Harel Insurance Company has sent a search and rescue team consisting of approximately eight Israeli rescuers to Nepal to locate a missing Israeli tourist and a group of travelers he was hiking with in a remote mountainous area affected by the floods. The policyholder, a man in his sixties, was last seen on a hiking route with his group when severe flooding and heavy mudslides struck the area, cutting off communication with the group.

While Nepal and China have warned of fresh risks of flooding in the Himalayas due to two lakes threatening to burst, search and rescue operations continue in the affected regions, with nearly 1,000 people still reported missing.
