More than 550 missing in Tibet after floods that left hundreds also missing in Nepal

China's Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday that at least 558 people are missing following mudslides in Tibet caused by a glacial collapse. Simultaneously, Nepal's police announced that at least 162 individuals had been killed in massive flash floods that swept through border areas between Nepal and China on Thursday. The floods left hundreds of tourists, workers, and others missing, disrupting travel in certain regions.

Drone footage captured the aftermath, showcasing roads demolished and buildings enveloped by water the consistency of wet cement. The region's steep valleys, while vital economic lifelines and travel routes, pose significant risks when natural disasters strike. In Nepal, images revealed the second floors of some buildings in the affected Nuwakot district coated in mud, with debris scattered among tree branches and overhead wires, while vehicles lay buried in the disaster. Survivors were found caked in mud, bearing the grim aftermath of the sudden floods.
