Mohamad Hasan in Jeddah for OIC meeting on latest developments in Palestine

JEDDAH, August 27 — Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan touched down in the city today to participate in the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Upon his arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport at 5:45 pm, he was greeted by Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Datuk Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman.

Mohamad leads Malaysia's delegation to the one-day meeting, which will focus on the most recent developments regarding Palestine, encompassing the circumstances in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as the growth of unauthorized Israeli settlements. Prior to the meeting, Syed Bakri emphasized the significance of Malaysia's involvement in communicating the nation's resolute stance on Israel's actions and hostility towards Palestinian territories.

He further disclosed that Mohamad would present a National Statement, reaffirming Malaysia's steadfast backing for the Palestinian people's legitimate struggle and their entitlement to a self-governing state based on the borders prior to 1967. Additionally, it is anticipated that the minister will engage with his counterparts from multiple countries to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation, encompassing the investigation of novel prospects in commerce, trade, and investment.
