Mid-Autumn lantern spectacle to dazzle visitors

Next month, Hong Kong will host a dazzling new lantern exhibition at Victoria Park to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the International Lantern Spectacular will dazzle both locals and tourists alike with thousands of unique lanterns from 20 different countries and regions. The theme of the exhibition is "reunion."

The centerpiece of the show is the World Lantern Boulevard, featuring silk lanterns from South Korea, vibrant patchwork lanterns from Brazil, and Polish lanterns incorporating traditional folk paper-cutting techniques. The Tourism Board has also enlisted the expertise of craftsmen from Nanjing to construct four giant Qinhuai lanterns. These magnificent structures employ a traditional technique that dates back an astounding 1,700 years and are recognized on the national list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Additionally, the exhibition will feature a pavilion showcasing hundreds of lanterns crafted by local artisans. These lanterns will take the form of beloved Chinese symbols such as rabbits, star fruits, and goldfish. Visitors will be able to explore the exhibition from September 17 to 27, coinciding with the annual Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival held by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in Causeway Bay.

For those seeking a bit of excitement, a Fire Dragon Dance will take place in Tai Hang between September 24 and 26. This thrilling performance is a must-see for those looking to fully immerse themselves in Hong Kong's Mid-Autumn Festival festivities.
