For the Landtag election on September 20th, 19 parties are competing. The decision on which parties appear on the ballot papers was made on July 30th by the Landeswahlausschuss of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Apart from the already represented factions and the FDP group, the following parties were approved according to information from the Land election officer: Communist Party of Germany (KPD), Party for Progress (PdF), WIR LEBEN DEMOKRATIE (WLD), PARTY OF MENSCH KLIMA TIERSCHUTZ (Tierschutzpartei), Pirate Party, Handicrafts Party, Volt, Team Freedom, Alliance C – Christians for Germany, Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht – Reason and Justice (BSW), Free Voters, The Party and Ecological Democratic Party (ÖDP).
