Kuvempu University Registrar flags NCTE recognition of Sagar Gangothi College

Registrar of Kuvempu University, R. Thimmarayappa, has announced that the Sagar Gangothri College of Education at Ullur in Sagar taluk has been without National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) recognition since the academic year 2023-24. In a press release, the registrar stated that the college could not secure affiliation with Kuvempu University for either the 2023-24 or 2025-26 academic years, as it failed to submit its application within the required time frame.

The college also did not participate in the affiliation process for the 2026-27 academic year. Despite obtaining permission to admit students and conduct examinations through an interim order from the Karnataka High Court, the court has emphasized that neither the college nor its students can assert any rights in the matter if the final court order dismisses the writ petition.

The registrar has advised students that a B.Ed. degree obtained from an institution without NCTE recognition would have no value, and the NCTE recognition and Kuvempu University affiliation are contingent upon the court's final decision.
