Hyundai Steel partners with HanmiGlobal to expand data center steel business

Hyundai Steel has entered into a strategic partnership with HanmiGlobal, a prominent construction project management firm, to bolster its market position in the creation of advanced industrial structures, such as data centers and semiconductor plants. On Thursday, the company announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HanmiGlobal, aimed at bolstering their technical expertise in the construction domain.

According to a Hyundai Steel representative, "By joining forces with HanmiGlobal, our aim is to attain a commanding technological edge in steel products for sophisticated industrial establishments and stimulate demand for high-performance steel."

Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will collaborate from the initial design phase, carefully assessing and integrating steel products conducive to each specific project. These products may include fire-resistant steel and high-strength structural sections. The collaboration will involve developing optimized steel-frame designs tailored for advanced industrial facilities, which will subsequently be presented to potential clients.

Notably, data centers have historically relied on concrete-based structures for their construction, but this collaboration seeks to introduce innovative steel-based solutions to the sector.
