Himpunan bantah Pati jangan sampai menghasut, kata polis

Pahlawan Polis Terengganu Mohd Khairi Khairudin has warned attendees and organizers of the Pati Free and Amicable Gathering not to provoke or incite others at the Astaka Field in Chukai tomorrow. He stated that 100 officers and members of the IPD Kemaman will be present to monitor and safeguard the safety of the public at the assembly, which is expected to have 1,000 participants, including influential figures.

He urged everyone to maintain discipline, avoid provocation, and refrain from using inflammatory language that could lead to chaos. He also cautioned against bringing children and prohibited items such as sharp weapons. Any breach of the law will be dealt with according to the Free Assembly Act 2012, he added. Meanwhile, the police are preparing a report on the death of a male detainee in Marang Prison for referral to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP).

Three staff members from Marang Prison have been called in to assist with the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The investigation has revealed that the victim and three suspects have a history of domestic disputes related to drugs. The victim has recently been admitted to the prison, and the suspects are believed to be long-term inmates awaiting their turn.

All this occurred in broad daylight, in a location where all detainees could see. Additional officers were called to complete the investigation before referring it to the DPP for further action, he said. The previous day, a male detainee died after being allegedly punched by three other detainees in a Marang prison. Marang Police Chief Sofian Redzuan confirmed receiving a report of the incident at 12:31 PM from a prison warden.
