Himpunan bantah Pati jangan sampai menghasut, kata polis

Policing in Terengganu has warned participants and organizers of the Pati Free and Amicable Assembly not to provoke or stir up dissent. Chief Inspector Mohd Khairi Khairudin stated that 100 officers and members from IPD Kemaman are present to monitor and ensure the safety of the public at the assembly, which is expected to have 1,000 attendees, including influential figures.

He urged everyone, including organizers and the public present, to be disciplined, avoid provocation, and refrain from making inflammatory statements that could lead to chaos. He also cautioned against bringing children and prohibited items such as sharp weapons. Any breach of the law will be dealt with according to the Assembly Act 2012, according to Bernama, in Kuala Nerus.

Separately, Chief Inspector Mohd Khairi Khairudin revealed that his office is preparing a report on the death of a male detainee in Marang Prison for submission to the Alternate Accuser (TPR). At this stage, three prison staff have been called in for interviews to assist the investigation under Section 302 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The ongoing investigation has found that the victim and three suspects were involved in a previous drug-related altercation. The victim was recently incarcerated, while the suspects are believed to have already reconciled and are waiting for their turn. All incidents occurred in front of witnesses and in a location where all detainees could see.

Additional officers were called to complete the investigation before referring it to the TPR for further action, Khairi explained.

Earlier, a male detainee died in a prison in Marang district, believed to have been beaten by three other detainees. Marang District Police Chief Sofian Redzuan reported receiving a notification of the incident at 12:31 PM from a prison warden.
